Cashiers Valley Fusion is honored to host the Blue Ridge Karate Club and offer a variety of regularly scheduled karate classes, 12 months a year. Students will be tested periodically throughout the year on the skills they have learned and have an opportunity to earn belt rankings. Students who attend class regularly and multiple times a week can expect to advance at a faster pace than those who attend once a week or sporadically.
Kids, ages 5 – 12, will be taught Shotokan Karate, a traditional Japanese martial art involving a variety of techniques, including blocks, strikes, and evasions. Respect for self and others, discipline, and self-‐defense are key components to the class structure. Kids will have fun as they learn this wonderful tradition of Karate plus build/strengthen self-‐esteem and confidence, improve academic performance by raising energy, focus and concentration levels for task awareness.
Karate (Level 1,2)
This class teaches various fighting methods including blocks, strikes, evasions, throws, manipulations, kata (forms), and kumate (sparring) and incorporates Shotokan Karate with Japanese Jujitsu and Filipino stick and knife fighting. Benefits include self-‐defense, physical and mental conditioning, confidence building, focus, concentration and improved awareness.
Karate (Level 2,3)
Intermediate to advanced students will work more with one-‐on-‐one sparring and develop a greater knowledge and use of defense and combat weaponry.
